Sheet Metal Expertise

Custom Exterior Sheet Metal for GTA Homes

The details that protect a home's exterior — flashings, transitions, roof-edge trim, custom components — require fabrication knowledge and careful installation. That is what Primus does.

Fabrication + Installation

Most exterior systems — roofing, siding, cladding, soffit and fascia — rely on custom sheet metal components to work properly. Flashings seal the transitions between systems. Roof-edge trim protects the perimeter. Custom corners, caps and trim pieces finish the details that standard products cannot address.

Primus Sheet Metal Corp. is built around this expertise. We fabricate and install custom exterior sheet metal components for residential projects throughout the Greater Toronto Area. Whether a project calls for standard flashings or complex custom metalwork, we have the knowledge to produce and install it correctly.

What We Fabricate and Install

Custom Flashings

Step flashings, counter flashings, base flashings and through-wall flashings fabricated to suit the specific conditions of each project.

Roof-Edge Details

Drip edges, gravel stops, fascia caps and perimeter trim that protect the roof edge and give a clean finished appearance.

Wall and Window Flashings

Head flashings, sill flashings and jamb flashings at windows, doors and wall penetrations — fabricated and installed to prevent water infiltration.

Transitions and Intersections

Roof-to-wall transitions, valley flashings, hip and ridge details, and any location where two exterior systems meet require careful custom metalwork.

Custom Corners and Trim

Corner caps, column wraps, beam covers and custom trim pieces fabricated to match the project's design requirements.

Penetration Flashings

Pipe flashings, vent flashings and other penetration details that need to be properly sealed and integrated with the surrounding roofing or cladding.

Why Fabrication Knowledge Matters

A contractor who only installs pre-made products is limited to what those products can do. When a project has unusual geometry, non-standard dimensions or specific design requirements, standard products often do not fit properly.

Primus fabricates custom sheet metal components in-house, which means we can produce exactly what a project needs — the right profile, the right dimensions, the right material — and install it correctly. That is the practical difference between a sheet metal company and a general contractor who subcontracts the metalwork.

FAQ

Common Questions About Custom Sheet Metal

What kinds of custom sheet metal work does Primus do?
We fabricate and install custom flashings, coping caps, wall caps, window sills, sill pans, parapet caps, chimney caps, counter flashings, reglets, and architectural trim. If a standard profile does not fit the geometry of your building, we fabricate it in-house to the exact dimensions required.
What metals do you work with?
We work primarily with aluminum, galvanized steel, and stainless steel. Material selection depends on the application, exposure conditions, and finish requirements. Aluminum is common for residential flashings and trim. Galvanized and stainless steel are used where greater strength or corrosion resistance is needed.
Can you match existing sheet metal profiles on a repair or extension?
In most cases, yes. We measure the existing profile and fabricate a matching piece in-house. Exact matches depend on the original material and finish — we assess this during the estimate and advise if a close match is the best achievable outcome.
Do you work on commercial and industrial buildings?
Yes. A significant portion of our custom sheet metal work is on commercial and industrial buildings — parapet caps, coping, large-format flashings, and architectural trim at scale. We are experienced with the tolerances and coordination requirements these projects involve.
Is custom sheet metal work done on-site or in a shop?
Both. We take field measurements on-site, fabricate the pieces in our shop to the exact dimensions, and then install them. This approach produces tighter tolerances than field-bending alone and results in a cleaner finished product.
How do I get a quote for a custom sheet metal project?
Contact us with a description of the work and, if possible, photos of the area. We will arrange a site visit to take measurements and assess the scope. Custom sheet metal projects vary significantly in complexity, so an on-site assessment is the most reliable way to provide an accurate estimate.
